What's In Mini Mouse's Suitcase...

Earlier this week we gave you a peep inside Middle Mouse's suitcase, today we're sneaking a look under the lid of Mini's...

By now I'd say that all three of us Mice could pass as pro packers! We've clocked up a fair few holidays between us and can pretty much pack with our eyes closed!

Packing to most is that dreaded chore which stands in the way of the true holiday excitement! So we thought why not share our wisdom to try ease the ordeal with 3BM's top 3 tips....

1. NEVER share a case with a boy!

Packing alone is bad enough but the prospect of sharing a case with a partner can cause no end of stupid comments and ultimately arguments...not ideal just before a supposedly peaceful break together! Do you really need another pair of shoes? Why have you packed hair straightens - I much prefer your natural beachy look?! I've only got one pair of swimming shorts surely you only need one bikini? All of these common statements prove that men know nothing, will lie to get their own way and should always take their own case!

2. If in doubt don't pack it!

There's nothing worse than getting to check-in and being told you're over the baggage limit and must pay a ridiculous excess or remove the offending heavy items immediately! Actually scrap that, it's even worse to pay the extortionate fee and then return from holiday with a case full of unworn outfits!

Be decisive, if you're unsure if you'll wear it, you probably won't and always outfit build as you go! It doesn't have to be physically trying on options (although if I'm doing hand luggage only I'll often go to these slightly divaish extremes!) but there's no point bringing that skirt without a top that goes with it and so forth!

3. Always pack with a glass of wine in hand!

Over the last few years when our travelling seems to have peaked, we always try our hardest to make the packing chore last as little time as possible but be as fun as possible! A big glass of icy Marlborough sauvignon blanc, fun music to get you in the holiday spirit and a super pre-holiday feast to look forward to at the end of it, always helps us complete the task a lot more quickly! In fact, if anything, it becomes part of the fun lead up rather than a boring job on the to do list!

It's as simple as that...with that in mind, check out my holiday essentials which I'm actually packing as I type (wine in hand of course!)...

Papaya Gold Paw Paw Balm

I can't go anywhere without this magical ointment, it's basically Mary Poppins in a tube! It treats burns and dry skin, acts as a lip balm, soothes eczema, cuts and chafed and chapped skin... you name it, paw paw does it! I somehow managed to mislay mine on my latest trip to Portugal which of course was a total disaster...one teeny, tiny tube multitasks so hard that it renders so many other products redundant!

The Perfect Pair of Wedges

For me the perfect pair of wedges are priceless...comfortable to wear, easy to balance in (no matter how many cocktails you drink) and somehow manage to be dressy but casual at the same time! I've already blogged about these before but my gold Zara beauties have come up trumps on every holiday so far this Summer!

An Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Bikini...

Seeing as 90% of most holidays are spent in a bikini I feel it's pretty crucial to invest in some good ones. Firstly those that you feel nice in and secondly ones that can withstand a few outings in the sea without stretching and bobbling immediately.

I fell head over heels for this Estuaries canary yellow number...I'm loving the flattering fit, multi textures and the vibrant summery hue is an added bonus! The brand uses thick, great quality fabrics that give amazing support and wash really well! I'm a total convert to spending a little extra to feel that much nicer!

My NK1 LED Travel Lamp...

It's no secret that NK1 have converted me to be an at home shellac addict - if you missed it check out my post here. Gone are the days of chipped nails and constant re-painting...I'm fully dedicated to a 30 minute session every three weeks! I know it sounds ridiculous but it simply changes your evenings, I used to have to reserve a night every week to come home and sit on the sofa patiently painting, waiting, painting, waiting and then smudging as soon as I got into bed - ANNOYING!! I now have perfectly shiny nails after 30 mins every few weeks with no annoying drying time!!

There will always be those moments where you scrub the dishes a little too vigorously or lug your suitcase a tad aggressively and eventually a chip or lifting at the edges will appear. When you're at home it's quick and easy to repair with your LED lamp however it's defiantly too large to pack in your suitcase! So once again NK1 have come to the rescue with their travel size LED lamps - super light, speedy, small and perfect!

A Secret Stash of Beach Chick Lit...

It's the one occasion when you can devour stereotypical feel good chick lit with no judgements whatsoever! Who really wants to be reading heart wrenching stories or hardcore historical novels when the sun is beating down and the cocktails are flowing?! I know I'd much rather be reading about the New York adventures of beautiful socialites being chased by drop dead gorgeous millionaires!

A Selection of my Favourite Beach Dresses...

Regardless of what I think I'll wear, I always end up in a bikini with an easy beach dress in the day followed by comfy flowing maxi dress in the evening.

After non-stop cocktails, champagne and copious amounts of delicious food (calories don't count on holiday - FACT) it's not about tight fitting outfits is it?!

A few of my trusty favourites are...

And last but by no means least...

My Beauty Essentials...

I'm definitely not someone who wears a face full of make-up to the beach, instead I go for the au naturel look but with a few small additions for the evening to jazz things up!

I find it especially necessary for the worst stage of the holiday, tan-transition...everyone must have experienced the horrible time when you're freshly exfoliated ready for the beach and waiting for the tan to come out! After day one in the sun you've turned an awkward beige (or even pink if you're not careful) and every outfit looks pretty disastrous making bronzer your only saviour!

So...I always have my beauty essentials on hand to cater for those times and to make me feel that bit nicer in a beachy way!

Firstly and most importantly everyone needs a trusted suncream, us Mice are loving Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection - it smells of a heavenly coconut dream, is water resistant and easy to rub in...perfect!

A super fresh summer perfume is a must - if you didn't see my post a few weeks ago my current obsession is Acqua Di Parma Blu Mediterraneo...

Nothing will budge my new Benefit 'They're real! push up liner' (you actually need a special gel to remove it)...BUT believe me no amount of sweating or water splashing will make your eye line falter!!

After a hard day in the sun it is essential to rehydrate your skin, I'm using Elemis Hydra-Balance Day cream at the moment which is super light but keeps my skin moisturised all day long...

Finally for the evening to add a little pizzazz to a natural look I have two favourites which come everywhere with me. My MAC Mineralize Skin Finish to sweep across my cheekbones and Clinique's Chubby Stick in Heaping Hazelnut to keep my lip moisturised and also adds a hint of colour...

And that's it....I'm ready to go!

Flamingos a-go-go

Every now and then I get an unexplained obsession with something completely random. My current being flamingos.

Yes, I know. All very odd.

Perhaps it's the fact that summer's been a little bit of a damp squib so far and that flamingos are unavoidably cheerful and reminiscent of tropical holidays. Maybe it's their kitschy fabulousness. Or perhaps it's just because they're pink and stand on one leg... Who knows?! All I can say for certain is that anything with a flamingo print or even just anything in flamingo pink is currently crusing up my lust list.

If you need a little flamingo awesome in your life (and frankly who doesn't?!) here are my top picks...

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

In London this week we've had a gorgeous glimpse of what summer has to bring (pretty please keep this up!)...warm weather, no coats or scarfs (come on it is April!) and the RayBans have been out in full force! Word is, it's set to be cool this weekend, but even after just that quick flash of sunshine we're ready for festivals, BBQ's, roof-top drinking and short sleeves right now...just in case that wasn't clear!

We also need a reason to invest in the new Blackberry and Elderflower Pimms...how exciting! Winter Pimms is good, but can never quite steal my heart - I'm an original Pimms girl through and through...however the elderflower element in the new summer version could well make me waver! But it just isn't right to drinking Pimms unless the sun's out...so COME ONNNNN keep your hat on Mr Sun...permanently preferably!

When we haven't been catching a speed ray at lunch or praying every night for no more rain, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Secretly raving about the best new brunch spot ever...A Little of What You Fancy. We've kept it quiet for a few weeks but I suppose it's only fair to share this delicious little secret! It isn't in the most convenient location (Kingsland Road, Hackney) which actually makes me quite happy as it does mean you won't find a queue and it's mainly locals and neighbourhood strangers in the know paying a visit. ALOWYF is a short walk from Dalston Junction overground or a supposed twenty minute bus journey from Mice Towers (which actually took far longer and made us 45 mins late) but despite this I'll be returning without a doubt!

The space is filled with bare low hanging light bulbs, mismatched wooden chairs (the sort that we sat on at primary school), menus on clipboards and crates full of fresh juices and fruit and veg. Shabby chic at its best which immediately makes you feel welcome and relaxed, as does the divine smelling food and super friendly staff - this is easily my new favourite haunt!

And then there's the food, which is absolutely out of this world! The menu goes beyond standard brunch options of eggs on toast and eggs benedict and instead offers unusual combinations that just work! Scrambled eggs, tomatoes and basil on toasted sourdough; truffled field mushrooms on toast; and poached eggs, avocado, roast tomatoes, Greek yogurt, chili jam and chorizo! The latter was my choice and WOW is all I can say! The Greek yogurt and chili jam go perfectly together and offset the spicy chorizo perfectly, all piled a top fresh sourdough!

Tempted?! We were! So much so that we couldn't resist pudding once we'd tasted their breakfast creations. The cheesecake was far too pretty to say no to and it's safe to say we gobbled down the whole lot!

This is no one trick pony either, ALOWYF is open all day long serving up breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner...absolutely no excuse not to go!

Restraining the almighty urge to buy up the majority of Zara's new Summer shoe range...it's just all oh so pretty! Revolving around multi textures and vivid colours, Zara once again has got it seriously spot on! Aztec monochrome, shiny gold mixed with vibrant colours, cut out designs, patterned fabric mix and all without blowing the budget! Get yourself down there before we snap them ALL up....

Vowing to never buy cheap bikinis again after getting to Sri Lanka and realising half of mine were faded and misshapen, resulted in me binning half of them immediately! I'm all for some H&M and Topshop bargains but no more in the swimwear stakes! To look bikini beautiful I am now a strong believer in putting the time and money in to gain the rewards...on that note, some gym visits might not go amiss either...!

With summer holiday number one booked, I started my mission, I didn't want to spend a fortune, but just enough so that my bikinis won't fall apart or look washed out after a week's wear. When I found Insight on ASOS I knew I had struck gold...good quality and fit, fun AND flattering! So far I have snapped up this aztec number...

I love it so much that temptation is definitely going to get the better of me come pay day, watch this space....

Well that's it for another week! I'll leave you all dreaming of Pimms, bikinis and a super fun summer! Here's hoping for another scorcher next week....

This Week the Mice Have Mostly Been...

Another work week bites the dust! And what a week!

It was the week that London tearfully waved goodbye to the Olympics. After seven years of build-up, a complete overhaul of formerly grotty Stratford and the construction of a 200 hectare Olympic Park, three weeks ago 900 million people around the world tuned in for Danny Boyle's incredible Opening Ceremony. We really weren't expecting to go quite so Olympics crazy but from the moment Daniel Craig strode into Buckingham Palace, we were hooked. Just over two weeks of breathtaking displays of athletic prowess and multiple tear-jerking medal wins later, we were unexpectedly in the grip of severe post-Olympics blues as we watched the Spice Girls pout from their perches on top of a fleet of black cabs.

So we started the week with heavy hearts but you can't keep the Mice down for long! We've dusted ourselves off and packed the week with cocktails, shopping and little bit of work. We can now confirm that we're back to normal and even looking forward to Autumn (well the X Factor). So post-Olympics weeping aside, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Maxing out our Credit Cards holiday shopping at Sheer. When we discovered this Hong Kong lingerie lifesaver earlier this year we had a little underwear shopping spree and since then have been raving about Sheer to every girl we meet (and all their boyfriends). Stocking a huge range of gorgeous bras and knickers in a proper range of sizes (yes, at last, somewhere you can buy bras if you're over a B-cup), this little boutique is staffed by women who know what they're talking about when it comes to underwear and want to make sure that you leave with an armful of lingerie that will change your life. From a rainbow-hued selection of my favourite knickers, Hanky Pankys, to uber sexy scraps of silk and lace from Mimi Holliday, there's something here for every girl. And now Sheer also stocks swimwear...

Popping in this week to pick up new supplies of Hanky Pankys, we accidentally left with a brand new Zimmermann bikini. Ooops! It's so beautiful though and HK Mouse is off to the Amalfi Coast next week so it's basically just essential pre-holiday prep... Hong Kong girls add Sheer to your directory of essential retail spots immediately!

Seeking professional help at the Evans & Peel Detective Agency - a new secret speakeasy in wait for it ... Earl's Court of all places! So let's start from the beginning. We called up earlier this week and made an appointment. All seemed pretty normal until we buzzed on the door of 310c on Wednesday night. Upon entering we instantly felt like we'd stepped back in time, think gramophones, old fashioned typewriters and magnifying glasses. We were then greeted by a detective (not remotely Poirot-esk) sat at a desk in an agency office who asked us about the case we were there to discuss. You know when your mind goes totally blank and you get the giggles - well that's exactly what happened! We then proceeded to make up a story about our Miu Miu handbag being stolen in New York and demanded that our very serious case was looked into immediately! We got grilled for a while and then eventually released into the surprisingly spacious bar through a dusty revolving bookcase wall. The rest of the evening was pretty normal (you'll be pleased to hear) and consisted mainly of scrumptious cocktails and reliving the surreal grilling we received at the start of the night!

Series Linking the brand new X Factor which starts this Saturday! Back are the days when it is socially acceptable to use 'XFactor' as an excuse to join a night after 10pm or not at all...or in 3BM's case spend the whole of hangover Sunday watching replays just so we have fun things to blog about! 2009 and 2010 was all about watching Cheryl Cole become the nation's sweetheart and then with secret glee watching her fall from this perch to become the nation's most annoying bratty judge! Oh and how can we forget to mention our favourite part of the show...The Cheryl v Danni outfit-off... who are they wearing and who looks the best!!!

Image via http://cherylanncole.co.uk

2011 was minus Simon Cowell, Cheryl and Danni, and we have to admit even the presence of Gary Barlow wasn't enough to fill those voids...however the arrival of Tulisa did bring a smile to our whiskers! So this year we have... Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and new arrival Nicole Scherzinger! Cue classy, figure-hugging attire from Nicole and bling, trashy get-up from Tulisa - have you seen that brassy blonde hair?! Here's a little taster of what to expect...

Getting nostalgic for the days of Girl Power and Buffalo Trainers... Back in 1996, Middle Mouse and HK Mouse clubbed together to buy a single that five girls were storming up the charts with. The summer was spent channeling Ginger (she went to our school and she seemed the most fun), coveting those platform trainers and generally saying "Girl Power" a lot. Sixteen years on (ummm how scary is that?!) and we're still a little Spice Girls obsessed. They were our highlight of the Closing Ceremony and if his dancing was anything to go by, Boris' too. We particularly loved the bit where Victoria looked like she was going to topple over and we'd still choose Geri's outfit over anyone else's. So dust off your Union Jack mini-dress, here's a little vintage Spice to kick off the weekend...

Happy Friday!
