3BM Host: A Horrifying Halloween...

It's here!

The spoooookiest night of the year is upon us.... So, we've traded in our ears and whiskers for pointy hats and broomsticks - it's time to get our witch on - Mwahahaha!

We'll be mixing up a few enchantments later on this evening, we're thinking we'll use our powers for things like eternal good hair, Gisele-like limbs and wardrobes full of Jimmy Choos and Christian Louboutins...
But, if you'll be entertaining this evening rather than huddling around a bubbling cauldron, we thought we'd bring you a little bit of Halloween hosting inspo...

It's time to dig out your scariest costume, carve a terrifying Jack-o'-lantern and gather all your friends together for an evening of frightful fun...

Last Saturday, having spent the last couple of weeks pinning like crazy to our Halloween Inspiration Pinterest Board, HK Mouse picked out a few of her favourite recipes and got baking...

First up, mini Devil's Food Cupcakes....

... finished with a swirl of pumpkin orange buttercream and a scattering of Halloween sprinkles.

Top tip HK Halloweeners: head to Complete Deelite to stock up on all your baking essentials. This baker's Mecca stocks everything from cake stands to a rainbow of food colouring to super cute cupcake toppers.

Next up, eerie eyeball cake pops! If we made these again we'd serve them on forks rather than sticks for a bit of added gore!

And last but not least, our favourite, and the easiest to make of the lot - Strawberry Ghosts...

As the clock struck eight, the table was groaning with ghoulish goodies...

... and the Fiol Prosecco was chilled and waiting ready to be popped - the perfect way to get the party started!

Although it looked as though this little fellow had already had far too much of a good time...

What was HK Mouse's costume? A bad mouse of course....

Whatever you're doing, wherever you are, we wish you a very, very, horrifyingly....

On The 3BM iPod: Lorde UPDATED...

Back in February we tweeted Royals as our song of the day and then in July we wrote our first post gushing about our new iPod crush...three months on and we now have a whole album to devour!! The amazing Ella Yelich-O'Connor, or Lorde as we know her, is only sixteen and has accomplished more than most!

Signed at just thirteen years old, Lorde has developed a mature music style way beyond her years. She has written the entire album and already managed to cause some uproar amongst her peers; I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of Miley Cyrus or Taylor Swift - especially after her recent attack on poor Harry! It seems she managed to get the girls backs up with comments about 'people' being too flawless, unattainable and not portraying women as they should! We love an opinionated...teenager!!

But what about the music? Think moody, complex, mystifying, subdued yet still managing to be catchy, fun and addictive...we already have it on repeat!

If there ever was a reason to motivate you on a miserable morning commute, it's surely a super talented teenager who no doubt earns (or is set to earn) our salaries many times over in the coming months!!!

Have a little listen to 3BM's favs below....

Currently Channeling... Louis Vuitton Underwear As Outerwear

Every fashion month, there are a couple of shows which grab us immediately, set the tone for our wardrobes for the season to come and leave us desperate to see whether the highstreet will have shared our excitement and deliver homages within our price range.

Last spring the show that really had us at hello was Louis Vuitton. Fifty doors opened onto a hotel corridor come catwalk spilling out Cara, Kate and co in an array of lingerie-esque pieces with mannish coats thrown over the top. The show notes explained that the collection channelled the "attitude of getting dressed up only to find the most glamorous destination is one's own hotel room." What could be more decadently fabulous?

Post-show Marc Jacobs elaborated further on the woman he'd designed the collection for: "She’s Left Bank. She’s Hollywood. A bit Gloria Swanson. A bit Juliet Greco. She’s romantic, erotic, decadent, glamorous and she loves luxury". If we weren't already sold, that really sealed the deal - that was exactly who we fancied being when the temperature dipped.

Turns out we were joined by fashion's finest in that sentiment...

So it was with baited breath that we waited for the autumn/winter highstreet collections to drop.

And thankfully our favourite purveyor of high fashion on a budget blew even our wildest dreams out of the water... yup - Zara has once more totally excelled itself. In fact Zara's Louis Vuitton inspired offering is so extensive that there's a whole section of the website devoted to it - Lace. Here are the pieces we're currently most coveting...

Wonderland of Dreams...

Now lets get one thing straight before you read on any further, babies are lovely- hey, I used to be one, but having one myself is a million miles away... However a colleague at work last week shared the sweetest link with me and I couldn't resist sharing it with you all too, especially on a Monday when we all need something uplifting to get us through the day!

Let me set the scene and pre-warn any broody women out there to look away now...

Queenie Liao, a freelance artist and mum living in California has publicly shared pictures of her sleeping baby, Wengenn, which bring to life the far away places and wonderland adventures she thinks he's dreaming about.

She has created over 100 beautiful images and I guarantee each one will make you smile. Not only are they super sweet but also impressively creative - the one question I do have is how the hell does she get her baby to sleep for the amount of time she would need to set up each and every imaginative scene?! Best sleeping baby in the world ever...

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

We come bearing good news...

Woo hoo! It's the weekend!

We're not sure whether it has anything to do with the trees doing their autumn stuff, but this week it's been turn over a new leaf week for us Mice. The London Mice have hit the gym hard, I've been back at Bikinifit for a brand new ten week programme. Christmas parties aren't that far off (how has that happened? Where has 2013 gone???) and we've decided it's time to eat better and work out harder. I may however have fallen off the wagon a little last night, ahem! But more on that later... When we haven't been discussing Kale and kettle bells, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Feeling toe-tied over these delicious Aminah Abdul Jillil Bow Pumps. We blogged a couple of weeks ago about being head over heels about ballerina style bow pumps, and we've now found our dream pair...

We first spied first them on the uber-glam Helena of Brooklyn Blonde...

And then on stylista Aimee Song via her blog, Song of Style...

and then just as we were in danger of forgetting them, they popped up twice in one day on our Pinterest newsfeed... the universe is clearly trying to tell us something...

We clicked through to the Aminah Abdul Jillil online store and expected to find a price tag to make our eyes water... but were pleasantly surprised to discover that they're a pretty decent USD$195! Don't get us wrong, we'll still need to wait for pay day to snap up our pair of bow beauties but we think these babies deliver some serious bang for your buck...

Checking out fresh out of the box, brand new HK restaurant, the Bellbrook and toasting it with far too much Jalapeño Tequila...

Yeah, it turns out that's a lie. But it is exactly the sort of wisdom I like to believe on a Thursday night...

Anyway back to the restaurant... Brought to us by David Laris, the Bellbrook serves up dishes of Australian deliciousness which combine the three elements that David thinks makes his homeland so great... multiculturalism, vintage influences (think settlers) and the indigenous people. I have to admit that what with the tequila and the incredible piña coladas, I didn't actually sample too much of the food circulating (may account for today's wonderful hangover) but I'm very much looking forward to heading back to work my way through the menu.

Getting spooked out and preparing ourselves for a weekend of wickedness and witchcraft. We know there are still a few days until the spookiest night of the year, but it's the weekend before Halloween and that calls for costumes and plenty of ghoulish fun! I'll most likely be wearing something I pick up last minute from Hong Kong's fancydress Mecca, Pottinger Street, but my dream costume would include a large helping of this Charlotte Olympia amazingness...

And on that note...

Have a great weekend!
