This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

Another week has sped on by with absolutely no time to mourn holiday blues, our crazy routines are firmly back in place! Days lazing by the pool feel like a lifetime ago, well for the London Mice it does anyway... it's quite a different picture 5,995 miles away...! HK Mouse has been basking poolside with jaw-dropping views and stunning sunsets whilst we're battling the muggy / showery British weather and playing shoe roulette each day before work...flip flops or boots!

I know which view I would opt for!

When we haven't been day dreaming of another life, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Munching away for a joint birthday celebration at Back in 5 Minutes, on Brick Lane. If you aren't familiar with this restaurant then you're forgiven as it's slightly more discreet than your normal eatery! Brought to us by the team behind Disappearing Dining Club, Back in 5 Minutes is located in the equivalent of a clothes shop's stock room!

Make sure you head for the bagel shop end of Brick Lane, look out for number 224, and basically once you see the only store that hasn't shut up shop, you'll know you're there! Once inside you're led to a curtain at the back, behind which you will find the charming restaurant!

Think a candle-lit cubby, full to the brim of vintage mismatched crockery, old school chairs and tonnes of character and atmosphere. If you're after something quirky then this is your answer!

We opted for the four course menu for £35 which included...a Grey Goose Le Fizz as round one, followed by a starter, main course and dessert - all of which you choose from three options. I opted for the sea bream to start, lamb rump, aubergine and cous cous with a harissa yogurt sauce followed by a scrumptious cheese board. Every course as good as the last with great care and expertise applied in terms of the mix of flavours, quality of ingredients and presentation.

Super tasty, unusual and a good choice if you want to impress or simply if you're bored with the same old options!

Lusting after the gorgeous Stella McCartney pieces from her underwear range that I just happened to stumble across whilst doing my weekly ASOS peruse! If we're honest I think pretty much everyone has their everyday (usually M&S) underwear and then their more limited special pieces...which get far less wear than they should!

The constant hand washing is a slight inconvenience, but as they say...beauty is pain! We have to be loyal to trusty M&S but there should always be a reason to splash out, if these aren't reason enough I don't know what is?!

Slathering on as much moisturiser as humanly possible in hope to eek out my tan and fight the scale skin that skinny jeans guarantee for a little longer! After treating my skin to hourly top-ups of suncream whilst on holiday, I think it is only fair to remain dedicated and at least continue with a morning and evening application. However when it comes to body moisturisers I am not easily pleased! It can't be too thin or too perfumed as this dries out your skin, but  also not too thick or slow drying as this is impractical for my efficient morning routine and lastly, because I'm applying it by the bucket-load, it can't be too expensive!

At last, I've found the one that ticks all the boxes...Korres Body Milk. A Greek brand which uses only natural ingredients, sourcing oils and herbal infusions locally and boasting eco-friendly production techniques using renewable energy! So you can merrily apply safe in the knowledge that your moisturiser is not only friendly to your skin, but also to the environment!

We're currently obsessed with the Basil Lemon...

However check out the full range on the website as the likes of Vanilla Cinnamon, Fig or Bergamot Pear might take your fancy! If like me you'd rather spend a good hour smelling all the different options then head into Liberty London for the full range!

While over in Hong Kong...

Figuring out ways to go out and stay dry as the rain hammers down UK-style... After last weekend was wall-to-wall sunchine and blue skies it was probably only fair that this week we got our fair share of rain. And when it rains in Hong Kong, it goes for it big time. This week a Typhoon 8 whipped through the harbour which meant all our offices closed for the day but also meant soggy stilettos for anyone brave enough to try to venture out. This weekend has long lie-ins and September Issues written all over it, but as the rain promises to hang around for the foreseeable future, I'm working out how to fill my diary with fun while dodging the downpours. Top of my list right now? Next Tuesday's Secret Walls Round 1....

We're talking: white walls, black markers and a tattoo artist and illustrator going head to head in the artiest battle that Hong Kong's ever seen... Sound intriguing? Snap up your tickets pronto, it's guaranteed to be a sell-out....

And that's it for another week! Happy Weekend!

Fruity Fashion : Pineapple Trend

We're all brought up to follow a healthy diet inclusive of the all important 5 a day - if I'm being honest I normally opt for fruit over veg to fulfil my daily quota ... mango madness with a passionfruit side vs steamed cabbage with a couple of courgettes = no competition! But, what happens if you have a manic day ahead of you packed with back-to-back meetings and hundreds of emails to get through? How do you find the time to get your dose of fruity goodness? Well this is where the latest tutti-fruity trend comes to the rescue - pineapples! If you don't have time to consume the goodness then the next best thing is to rock the goodness in fashion form...!

Over the years the supermarket fruit aisle has been a common source of inspiration for many designers. We had Stella McCartney who added a dash of zesty citrus chic to the catwalks...

Then there was Prada going nanas over bananas...

But this season is all about the pineapple!

Us Mice have searched high and low to bring you the most juicy, fruity finds - from sun dresses to accessories to house trinkets and even present tags ... you name it, we've found it! Enjoy!

Lee Renee pineapple necklace - £89

Reverse Sun In Dress from ASOS - £45

This Week the Mice have Mostly Been...

Another week's zoomed by and it's Friday again! Woo hoo!

But it's not just any Friday, it's Red Nose Day Friday! For anyone who isn't sure what that is, we're talking British charity, Comic Relief's, main fundraising day of the year - a great way to raise money for some fantastic causes while having lots of fun.

The perennial dilemma for any fashion lover is of course how to look chic while rocking a giant, plastic red nose...

Us Mice have always been partial to a little Red Nose Action and we're not too shy to say that we always carry them off pretty well...

It's not easy though, we admit. For anyone lacking a red tartan shirt, a pair of cream tights or a shiny red hairband, panic not, here's Lara Stone to show you that there's still hope for looking hot...
Of course being a Dutch supermodel helps... So if you'd rather dodge the face accessories altogether, you could go the fashionista route and wear your nose on your sleeve, with one of Stella McCartney's awesome limited edition t-shirts, available from TK Maxx or online via the Red Nose Day Shop. The adult version starts from just £9.99 and the mini version, for kids starts at just £6.99.

The toughest decision is which to opt for... Will you go for The Beatles tee like Cameron and Alexa, or the Tommy Cooper tee like Eddie and David...

Or you could go for the Kate tee like umm... Kate...

Even Rihanna's got in on the act in a pretty much sold out Marilyn version, although predictably Ri-Ri's a little more naked than the other celeb models...

Sadly the T-shirts are only available in the UK, but for anyone everywhere else wanting a piece of the Red Nose Day giving with a little fashion edge, then David Gandy's Blue Steel Appeal is for you... An ebay fashion auction with some awesome lots ranging from handbags to couture. There's also an array of once in a lifetime fashion experiences to be snapped up, from the sublime - a Vogue cover shoot with David Gandy (bidding's currently at £1,320) - to the ridiculous - dogwalking with Yasmin and Simon Le Bon (currently more expensive than getting up close with David at £1,650) - to the downright dangerous - a chance to meet Naomi Campbell (currently a bargainous £560 but we'd recommend that you leave mobile phones and anything else hurlable at home...)! There's only a couple more days to bid on the Blue Steel Appeal items so make sure that you get in there quick!

But, it really doesn't matter what you do, just make sure you get involved!

In other news, it's been another busy week in the world of the Mice so without further ado, here's our quick round-up! This week the Mice have mostly been...

Blowing our new season budget on the brand new VAMA Style Cruise Collection. If you haven't heard of VAMA Style yet, let us introduce you to our latest fashion crush! Designed by Australian ex-Hong Konger, Kaitie Manani, VAMA is a line of beautiful, bright pieces from silk playsuits to swishy maxis and perfect shift dresses. This is the perfect label to fill your suitcase with for your Easter break...

This week, every Hong Kong stylista's fav boutique, Polkadot, hosted a VAMA sip and shop event where you could browse the whole of the new VAMA Cruise Collection while sipping a glass of champagne and bagging style tips from Kaitie and Polkadot owner, Jamie Wenker

I immediately fell head over heels with the peach sherbert coloured Lou Lou dress which Kaitie just happened to be wearing...! Feeling a little single white female, I headed over to the till where my credit card was very pleased to discover my little fashion fix was just HK$880 - bargain! Even better, my purchase was wrapped in Polkadot's gorgeous dotty tissue and popped into a matching dotty VAMA Style tote - possibly the most gorgeous beach bag ever!

If you missed out this week, don't panic! Polkadot are stocking the full range throughout the weekend so all you need to do is set aside a couple of hours before Sunday night for a little bit of VAMA indulgence. And while you're there, it would be wrong not to shop some of the other amazing labels that Jamie currently has in stock from eight5two jewellery to up and coming designers like Darling and Esley

And non-Hong Kongers, don't despair, even you snowbound little English lot can shop the new VAMA collection via the super-shoppable website and it's free worldwide shipping! Hooray! Ready, steady... SHOP!

Sparking up and blissing out with our new candle obsession, True Grace. Given our abundance of candle blogging, from our round-up of our winter favs to the lowdown on a brilliant Diptyque blogger event, we probably don't need to tell you that we're a bit wax and wick obsessed! Guaranteed to have you feeling cosy and snug in seconds, we also love that our scented candles have Mice HQ smelling delicious 24/7.

We were introduced to True Grace at Christmas when Mini Mouse and I were coincidentally given the very same Moroccan Rose True Grace candle by two different people! After falling in love at first light, we did a bit of digging and discovered that True Grace is more than just a pretty face, this British brand has honesty and integrity at its core using naturally derived ingredients from renewable sources and packaging each lovely candle in a recyclable pot and box. Tick, tick, tick! Add to that that each candle is made lovingly by hand in the brand's Wiltshire workshop and you have our latest, greatest love in wax form!

There's a mind-boggling range of beautiful scents including all the traditional favourites like Fig and Lavender to more unusual fragrances like Library, Bonfire and Vine Tomato. The candles also fall at the more affordable end of the luxury candle spectrum at just £24 for a standard candle. It's now mid-March and I've been eeking my Christmas present out until now so I think it's about time I got myself a replacement - Hello Friday Candle Shopping!

So that's it for another week! We'll leave you to your Friday with one of our favourite moments from Red Nose Days gone by... the Spice Girls v. the Sugar Lumps...

Happy Weekend!

Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino perfume is truly magical. It smells expensive and that's because is it! Priced at £180 for 100ml. Ouch - where's my secret admirer when I need him???

All this talk of perfumes has left me feeling like a scent shopping spree is very much in need, good job I'm off to the airport again...
