GUEST POST : A Diptyque Delight...

As some of you lovely lot will know, we have a couple of guest blogger friends who help us out with blog posts from time to time. Recently we were invited to attend a Diptyque event but sadly neither of us London mice could make it. Thankfully our beautiful chum, Gemma Pears could, and promised to report back...

With the London Mice both busy with work events and the HK lovely still thousands of miles away, I was called upon to attend a special blogger event on their behalf, at the very lovely Diptyque on Brook Street.

It was a beautiful cold evening and walking down South Molton Street, lit up with it's magical twinkly fairy lights, and with the first sound of festive tunes humming around, it suddenly felt a lot like Christmas. Arriving at the lovely little shop I was welcomed with a glass of champagne and a sea of friendly smiles - perfect!

Diptyque is most definitely a LOVE brand. I'm surprised as I step inside to realise that as a fan, I've never actually been inside their own store, usually choosing to stock up on my favourite scents and gifts via Space NK and Selfridges.  It's a small but gorgeous hub filled with beautiful smells and sweet Parisian-style trinkets everywhere you look.

Diptyque Roses is my all time favourite scent and making my way around the house lighting them when I get home from work each night comes before even the vino. I know the Mice are just the same! As someone who sticks to what I know I love, the evening was a great way to experience new and wonderful smells, and see just what I"m missing out on by always going for the same scent every time - too much!! Here are my Diptyque top picks and top tips…

The Festive Collection

Each year a new collection of festive scents are unveiled in equally festive glass jars. This year's Holiday Fragrance Collection sees the arrival of a beautiful and colourful trio; Sapin Dore, Amber Oud and Oliban (from £25). Inspired by 'the Tales of Arabian Nights' the richly festive scents come housed in deep red, purple and green glass jars, each featuring beautiful gold etching which reflectively dance and glisten as soon as the candle is lit.

Like everything Diptyque, they smell simply divine! Oliban stood out as fave of the three for me, so I snapped a couple up before they go out of stock…be quick is my top tip as they won't be around for long.

Scent Mixing
As a wearer of Philosykos and Rose, I usually switch between the two depending on my mood and what I'm up to. I love them both but sometimes find the former too heavy and the latter a little too sweet … cue, combining them! It sounds obvious now but I'd never thought of mixing them before, but speaking to the friendly fragrance specialist, I understood scent mixing is part of the brands DNA. It's a free and welcome service so the next time you're on the hunt for a new perfume, pop into any of the Diptyque shops to discuss different pairing options and they'll help ensure you have something uniquely 'you'.

Wedding Pairing
A candle scent to match the brides bouquet?! Having got married last December, my favourite Diptyque candle scent filling the venue was an absolute must, and it now seems I matched it with my bouquet of roses without even realising it (admittedly it's not exactly the most original flower choice!) Well, Diptyque now offers a pairing service for brides-to-be, whereby you tell the lovely scent specialists the floral bouquet blend you've decided on, and they'll cherry pick the candles to match. Amazing!
