Boozy Brunch with Mr B...

I've wanted to try Mr Buckley's for some time, however it's one of those places that, unless you live out East, is just not that convenient. The perfect opportunity arose for a girlie weekend lunch with all parties living in the Hagerston and Bethnal Green area!

Located at 255 Hackney Road, you'll see why it's tricky for a post work meet-up for anyone outside East London, with the closest tube being Bethnal Green and that being a bus journey away, your next best bet is the overground to Cambridge Heath and then a further brisk trot. However, despite these complications, you'd be a fool to miss out on this one! Plus not having a tube station next door means you avoid the crowds and can actually enjoy this little gem!

Having just celebrated his 2nd birthday, Mr Buckley is still relatively young, but fear not, he knows exactly what he's doing!

The ambiance is super laid back, it doesn't try too hard, which creates the perfect cocoon to while away many hours...which is exactly what we did! The decor is simple yet cool - exposed brick walls with peeling paint,
mismatched school chairs, Mr Buckley's stencilled across one side of the room, quotes scrawled in neon lights and all dimly lit by shabby outdoor lamps. Urban meets chic at it's best!

On our visit, the downstairs bar was booked out for a private party, so unfortunately we have no pictures to show, however this didn't stop us from sampling the amazing cocktails! My favourite had to be the 277 - Sloe Gin, lemon juice, cucumber and prosecco...so fresh and incredibly moreish! Having said that the Raspberry and Basil smash slipped down just as easily, as did a bottle of ice cold Savignon Blanc! There's no doubt that we'll back to check out the bar and the rest of the cocktail list!

And finally...the food! WOW! You're in for a serious treat! We arrived towards the end of the Saturday brunch service, but being four hungover girls with impressive appetites, they kindly served us an edited version of the dinner menu and thank God they did!

Firstly there's no messing about with small portions, even the jars are big enough for sharing - which was a great way to explore the menu options! We went for:

Shredded wild rabbit with chilli & tarragon...

Spice roasted peanuts, macadamias & almonds with vanilla salt...

Butterbean hummus with aubergine & pepperade...

Everything is presented beautifully and the flavours they pack in are incredible - who would have thought a jar of nuts could be so delicious...the perfect mix of salt, sweet, spice and delicate vanilla! Jars devoured, we decided to move onto mains...

Fillet of sea bass with lemon crushed potatoes & spinach purée...

8oz Onglet steak with bone marrow, blue cheese butter & skinny fries...

Some serious silence went down around a table that had previously been filled with constant chatter, squealing and laughter! There wasn't even time for food envy...both dishes were so lip smackingly good Middle Mouse and I forgot to do the obligatory spoon swap taster!

By this point our tummies were so swollen with our amazing feast and 3 too many cocktails, we decided pudding would have to be bypassed! Well not completely...we ordered a couple of portions of Mr B's salted chocolate fudge and replaced the accompanying coffee with an espresso martini of course!!!!

Divine is the only word to describe these little diamonds of heaven...wow wow wow...you need to get yourself down there if only to sample these bad boys!!!

Our new favourite haunt and with a brunch menu and Sunday dinner menu still to sample, one we will need to frequent manyyyyy more times!

See you soon Mr B....

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been.

It's not only the weekend again but OH YES it's another bank holiday weekend! With temperatures set to hit 17 degrees in London that can only mean one thing...

WE WISH!!! But I'm sure we can muster copious amounts of alfresco Pimms - one thing that London does better than anywhere else....!!

So when we haven't been counting down the days until fun can officially begin, The Mice have mostly been...

Lusting after the tasting menu at The Clove Club after dropping in for a few post-work cocktails.
Shoreditch Town Hall plays home to this little gem at number 380 Old Street, handily just skip across the way from our new fav 8 Hoxton Square. (If you missed it check our review out here).

Spread across two rooms, you can either opt for a super tasty (or so I hear) meal in the beautifully high ceiling dining room or for a cosy cocktails in the laid back cocktail bar. We opted for the latter and although tempted by the bar snacks, we refrained mainly because we had already been for dinner and that would just be greedy!!

If the cocktails are anything to go by then you're in for a treat - the espresso martinis were the perfect mix of sweet and rich and the amaretto sours so delicious I think we may have discreetly licked our glasses!! OK we didn't as I'm not sure that passes as Clove Club etiquette but if we could have, we mostly definitely would have! At £10 a pop the bar bill could easily creep up, but for an expertly shaken cocktail against a chic, beautiful backdrop I think it's definitely worth as a treat!

They're known for their 5 and 9 course tasting menu for £55/£85, using the best of British ingredients and has been heralded as a 'masterpiece of contemporary aspirations'. Without even seeing the menu I am sold...I now just need another excuse to trot on down!!

Truly embracing that summertime feeling and beadily eyeing up Gray Malin's fabulous iPhone covers. You may remember we raved about his incredible prints of jaw drooping beach scenes back in our August post. If not he simply takes the most beautiful photography from a completely different slant, focusing less on the image before the eye and instead capturing paradise from a bird's eye view.

My dream is to own huge exposed brick walls adorned with Gray Malin beauties...gazing across at one of his pieces is like a dream world of everything I personally deem wonderful...

However in the meantime whilst I save for the walls and the photography, (this could take a while!!) we can all enjoy a slice of Malin at a fraction of the price. Head to his site where you can snap up these genius iPhone cases in a selection of his famous prints for just $45.

Right on that note I must dash...there are people to see, drinks to sip and fun to be had.... ENJOYYYYYYYY!!

Cosy Cocktails : Rosewood Hotel London

I'm sure for those of you following us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or all three, by now you know that over the last couple of weeks we've been busy little Mice scurrying around town (and the country for that matter)! We are sadly one sister lighter in London now but a hell of a lot heavier after the copious amount of calories consumed through endless brunches, lunches, dinners and cocktails!

Luckily enough we weren't left disappointed with any of our choices on new spots to eat and drink in, but it's going to take some time to tell you about all of them! However I have one tip that I must let you in on immediately...

Now the evenings are getting darker and the temperature's dropping, I'm sure, like us, you are all on the look out for this Winter's cosy hideaway. The perfect location away from the bitter weather where you can take a boyfriend to snuggle up to, girlfriends for cocktails and a gossip or maybe sisters to catch up with about the last few months apart!! Well we've only just gone and found it for you…somewhere chic but cosy, snug not snobby and both delicious and decadent…we introduce to you The Bar at Rosewood Hotel.

Don't be put off by the stereotype of a typical London Hotel bar, it isn't shiny marble floors, doormen in gloves or snooty ladies with fifteen Louis Vuitton cases, instead it's cosy low lighting, lots of candles, a big open fireplace, chesterfields, comfy booths you literally sink into and the friendliest barmen in the whole of London! The cocktails are around £10 each and are simply delicious, we were sipping on tall glasses of smashed basil concoctions, shallow Gatsby saucers of lychee and elderflower amazingness and the longest list of gins you've ever seen!!

The attention to detail in the furnishing, ambiance and cocktails is second to none. We went along as a group of six girls, were seated immediately and treated as if we were guests. An added bonus was the live music burbling in the background, adding the final cherry atop an already perfect cake!

Go see or yourself, and if you're disappointed I'll eat my hat…

WigWamBam Thank you Ma'am!

You may remember that we first blogged about WigWamBam back in February in our Valentines themed post P.S I Love you London - well if you didn't manage to get a visit in before...fear not it's back!!! Grab that cashmere cardi, snug snood and studded leather Valentino gloves and head up to the rooftop at the Queen of Hoxton for some winter warming fun!

Hold your horses though as the tipi won't be unzipped until 26th October, but then everyday between Tuesday and Saturday 5pm-10pm the wigwam is yours and it's free entry! Following the current fad it is no reservations but give it a few weeks, let the craze calm and I'm sure they'll squeeze you in up there! You have until the end of March next year to get your visit in, so no excuses this time...that includes us London Mice. Right now I'm feeling quite excited about Winter and Christmas...maybe because the feeling of freezing hands that burn when they hit the warm and pitch black mornings battling against bitter cold winds and lashing rain is a distant memory... Oh and because HK Mouse has just booked her flights home in December! But, if anything's going to make even the most pessimistic winter haters converts, this is it...! Who could hate fairy lights, roaring fire pits, reclining chairs, toast your own marshmallows, hot buttered rum and spiked hot chocolate?!

Not only all that but they are dusting off their Schwenkgrill as we speak ready to spark up and cook up a STORM!! Racks of lamb, venison, suckling pigs, sausages, burgers and good old veggie scotch broth...or so I hear!

Brownie camp, eat your heart out...this Winter if you can't find me snuggled in my onesie on my sofa watching Greys Anatomy series 9, then this is where I shall be!!

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

Wowza what a week and what a weekend ahead!! Last weekend I had one of my best friend's wedding and it was well and truly amazing! We had brilliant sunshine, amazing hog roast, yummy Marlborough and watched our bestie's tie the knot in the most idyllic barn and celebrated well into the night!! Perfect!!

I rocked my H&M fashion conscious dress (I blogged about the range previously), I saved it especially for the occasion and am happy to say I was the only one wearing it...well worth 2 months of waiting!!! I unfortunately got a bit overzealous dancing when the Take That tribute band came on and ripped the skirt, but I was having too much fun!!!

This weekend it is all about the Jubilee and the four day weekend...eeeeee I cannot wait, much needed!! I have another wedding to attend, this time at Luton Hoo with our friends flying in from all over the world to come, I am so excited!!!! Other than that I will be making the most of the sleep in's and joyous celebrations taking place all over london, all topped off by a Robbo roast dinner in St.Albans!

Anyway....this week the mice have mostly been...

Being VERY bad Mice and upsetting all the men at Lord's cricket.  The London Mice spent the day yesterday relaxing in the Pavilion, sipping pimms and perving on the HOT cricket players...who knew it was such an enjoyable sport! We had lots of fun, were totally spoilt and had Pimms bought for us all day, however we got a few disapproving glances! Until two years ago the Pavilion and Long Bar only allowed men in, however now woman are invited but with a nightmare dress code! Only skirts / dresses below the knew are allowed, bare arms or any skin is frowned upon and you have to wear shoes that are closed! If I didn't break the code with my jumpsuit and open toe wedges, Melissa definitely did!!!

A fabulously fun day out and if you don't have anything planned for Tuesday this Bank Holiday weekend, there is Lady's day at Lord's! Free entry for girls, a champagne reception, BBQ and beauty treatments...PERFECTION! Check out the details on the website and get involved!!

Intrigued..by the new unveiling of Topshop's Bridal range - 'Tie the Knot!'. Now everyone that knows me can immediately tell you I am Topshop's BIGGEST fan...I would safely say 80% of my wardrobe is from the store! However I cannot imagine myself going in there to buy my wedding dress...but I could be proved wrong...I hope I am!!

Richard Nicoll has designed a capsule range of seven dresses, comprising of your typical wedding elements...silk and lace, pink and white, but then mixing in cool and quirky twists, all at affordable prices between £75 and £350.

I'm not convinced that you would wear them as an actual wedding dress however I am definitely loving them as cocktail dresses! They are gorgeous simple designs that also look simply hot, take a peak and see what you think...

Loving...a gem of a website I came across when looking for a new fun bar to try out in London...Barchick

Firstly I love it because it has a real mix of places reviewed, from pop-up bars to diners, from posh cocktail bars to late night watering holes, NO sign of cheesy high street chains or The Loop bar!! And secondly I LOVE LOVE LOVE the filter sections on it! You can specify 'Where?' e.g. North London, 'What you're after?' options such as... 'speakeasy' 'Kissing' 'Debauchery', 'Who?' e.g 'Take a Date' 'Take a Cheapskate' and finally 'When?' e.g 'Daytime 'Evening' 'Late'. How useful and amazing is that!?! You search all your requirements and it brings back your options to pick from...what did I do without it!!!!

I am obsessed, THANKS Barchick you're the best online black book of bars!!
