Fifty Shades of Grey Debate...

A bit late to the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' debate I know but OH MY GOD I am so hooked! Everyones talking about Mr Grey and his twisted ways and now i'm jumping on the bandwagon. Lets start with the facts ... it's the fastest UK selling paperback of all time (beating Harry Potter), having sold 10 million copies since publication and if that's not impressive enough it's the fastest selling ebook of all time too. WOWZER!

If only I hadn't used my work duvet day this year, I would definitely call it in now and read from cover to cover. Sadly that's not possible SO i'm squeezing in 15 minutes of dedicated reading time to and from work with a tad of walking time between stepping off the tube and catching the lift up to Queensway! When i'm not engrossed in the next overtly graphic Grey and Steele scene, I am beginning to notice people staring and peering over my shoulder wondering which part I'm up to! This is where a kindle would come in handy to avoid the whole tube knowing you're reading the latest soft porn phenomenon...

So onto the debate, some are saying it's degrading to women positioning them as victims, others argue that the novel has no boundaries and high street retail sales are not being poilced whilst others are worried the book poses potential health risks with people attempting to reenact scenes from the novel ... I personally think it's a holiday from the stresses of everyday life and should not be taken so seriously but hey what do I know! Check out the recent heated debate on 'This Morning' here with comment from writer/journalist, Samantha Brick (yes, THAT Samantha Brick!) and author and journalist specialising in sex and relationships, Emily Dubberley.

The book's being made into a film and the rights have been sold to Universal. Rumours are that Vampire Diaries' god, Damon AKA Ian Somerhalder will play the infamous Mr Grey - HOT OR WHAT?! So I guess the billion-dollar question is ... who will play the innocent Miss Steele? I actually think Ian's Vampire Diaries co-star, Nina Dobrev would be the perfect casting. Regardless, the film is sure to be a huge success and I for one can't wait!
