This Week the Mice Have Mostly Been...

Another work week bites the dust! And what a week!

It was the week that London tearfully waved goodbye to the Olympics. After seven years of build-up, a complete overhaul of formerly grotty Stratford and the construction of a 200 hectare Olympic Park, three weeks ago 900 million people around the world tuned in for Danny Boyle's incredible Opening Ceremony. We really weren't expecting to go quite so Olympics crazy but from the moment Daniel Craig strode into Buckingham Palace, we were hooked. Just over two weeks of breathtaking displays of athletic prowess and multiple tear-jerking medal wins later, we were unexpectedly in the grip of severe post-Olympics blues as we watched the Spice Girls pout from their perches on top of a fleet of black cabs.

So we started the week with heavy hearts but you can't keep the Mice down for long! We've dusted ourselves off and packed the week with cocktails, shopping and little bit of work. We can now confirm that we're back to normal and even looking forward to Autumn (well the X Factor). So post-Olympics weeping aside, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Maxing out our Credit Cards holiday shopping at Sheer. When we discovered this Hong Kong lingerie lifesaver earlier this year we had a little underwear shopping spree and since then have been raving about Sheer to every girl we meet (and all their boyfriends). Stocking a huge range of gorgeous bras and knickers in a proper range of sizes (yes, at last, somewhere you can buy bras if you're over a B-cup), this little boutique is staffed by women who know what they're talking about when it comes to underwear and want to make sure that you leave with an armful of lingerie that will change your life. From a rainbow-hued selection of my favourite knickers, Hanky Pankys, to uber sexy scraps of silk and lace from Mimi Holliday, there's something here for every girl. And now Sheer also stocks swimwear...

Popping in this week to pick up new supplies of Hanky Pankys, we accidentally left with a brand new Zimmermann bikini. Ooops! It's so beautiful though and HK Mouse is off to the Amalfi Coast next week so it's basically just essential pre-holiday prep... Hong Kong girls add Sheer to your directory of essential retail spots immediately!

Seeking professional help at the Evans & Peel Detective Agency - a new secret speakeasy in wait for it ... Earl's Court of all places! So let's start from the beginning. We called up earlier this week and made an appointment. All seemed pretty normal until we buzzed on the door of 310c on Wednesday night. Upon entering we instantly felt like we'd stepped back in time, think gramophones, old fashioned typewriters and magnifying glasses. We were then greeted by a detective (not remotely Poirot-esk) sat at a desk in an agency office who asked us about the case we were there to discuss. You know when your mind goes totally blank and you get the giggles - well that's exactly what happened! We then proceeded to make up a story about our Miu Miu handbag being stolen in New York and demanded that our very serious case was looked into immediately! We got grilled for a while and then eventually released into the surprisingly spacious bar through a dusty revolving bookcase wall. The rest of the evening was pretty normal (you'll be pleased to hear) and consisted mainly of scrumptious cocktails and reliving the surreal grilling we received at the start of the night!

Series Linking the brand new X Factor which starts this Saturday! Back are the days when it is socially acceptable to use 'XFactor' as an excuse to join a night after 10pm or not at all...or in 3BM's case spend the whole of hangover Sunday watching replays just so we have fun things to blog about! 2009 and 2010 was all about watching Cheryl Cole become the nation's sweetheart and then with secret glee watching her fall from this perch to become the nation's most annoying bratty judge! Oh and how can we forget to mention our favourite part of the show...The Cheryl v Danni outfit-off... who are they wearing and who looks the best!!!

2011 was minus Simon Cowell, Cheryl and Danni, and we have to admit even the presence of Gary Barlow wasn't enough to fill those voids...however the arrival of Tulisa did bring a smile to our whiskers! So this year we have... Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa and new arrival Nicole Scherzinger! Cue classy, figure-hugging attire from Nicole and bling, trashy get-up from Tulisa - have you seen that brassy blonde hair?! Here's a little taster of what to expect...

Getting nostalgic for the days of Girl Power and Buffalo Trainers... Back in 1996, Middle Mouse and HK Mouse clubbed together to buy a single that five girls were storming up the charts with. The summer was spent channeling Ginger (she went to our school and she seemed the most fun), coveting those platform trainers and generally saying "Girl Power" a lot. Sixteen years on (ummm how scary is that?!) and we're still a little Spice Girls obsessed. They were our highlight of the Closing Ceremony and if his dancing was anything to go by, Boris' too. We particularly loved the bit where Victoria looked like she was going to topple over and we'd still choose Geri's outfit over anyone else's. So dust off your Union Jack mini-dress, here's a little vintage Spice to kick off the weekend...

Happy Friday!

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

Well this week has mostly been all about MINI MOUSE! Incase you missed it she turned the grand old age of 27 on Monday and has managed to stretch out her birthday celebrations for as long as humanly possible. She has been showered with the most gorgeous presents including the scrumptious Tom Ford Neroli Portofino body oil, limited edition Missoni Havaianas and Iosselliani amazing stacking rings to name a few...

She was also lucky enough to receive a pair of the most recent must-have Zara ankle boots embellished with a smattering of rock star gold studs. They were actually featured in this weeks Stylist magazine so no doubt they will sell out quick sharp! Check them out below - lush or what...

So what else have we been up to? This week the Mice have mostly been...

Fully immersed in all things Olympics. What a week for GB - 5 golds, 6 silvers and 4 bronze so far and still a week of competing to go! I have to say I wasn't overly fussed or excited in the run up to the Olympics (bad Brit) and as a result didn't purchase any tickets, a decision I now greatly regret. So now i'm having to live it through my TV and sifting through imagery shared online. Saying that, there has been some seriously fantastic photography showcased online, especially through the Telegraph and Independent, see some of my Olympic favs below...

Stuffing our faces at East London's Brawn restaurant on Columbia Road. A real mish mash of top notch food ... perfectly cooked quails eggs, hand chopped Tuscan beef, and popping purple beetroot with toasted cumin and creme fraiche - superb! My only word of warning is to steer clear of the pig's trotter, it resembled a plate of wobbling animal fat jelly - yuk!

That's it from us fellow mice buds! Have a cracking weekend - we plan to! x

This week the Mice have mostly been...

What a week to come back from Portugal to...I won't deny I've had the holiday blues, (mainly down to the lack of Pimm's from noon onwards and not being able to snooze every thirty minutes) however this gorgeous weather has made the transition back to 6am wake-ups a little easier. With yesterday hitting 27 degrees in London, I can't really complain...especially when I was able to have a two hour meeting out on the terrace in the bright sunshine topping up my tan! I've heard mean rumours that today is going to take a sad u-turn and the showers and gloom will be back, but I refuse to be a believer and have worn my flip flops regardless!! (Keep your fingers crossed for me...!)

Not only has this incredible weather decided to grace us, but so has Olympic 2012 mania! Everywhere you go  you can't help but overhear continuous complaints in relation to the tube, buses, roads and non-stop chatter and Facebook uploads of the Olympic torch - Middle Mouse being one of them....

Little do the complainers seem to relaise that this is going to get much MUCH worse before it gets better...living two stops from Stratford I can't imagine it's going to be plain sailing, but less hours in the office can only be a good thing surely?!

When we haven't been moaning about commutes and wearing as many summer outfits as humanly possible, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Basking among the barges on Regent's Canal! Middle Mouse and I stumbled across this little gem quite by accident whilst we were skiving off jogging! We raced home from work promising one another we would go straight out for a run in Victoria Park...however when we got home we agreed we were far too tired to run so we would go for a walk instead!!! As we ambled down the canal (no exercise attire in sight, instead denim shorts and sunglasses with absolutely no intention to break a sweat!) we found ourselves among East End locals cooking up a feast, drinking Pimm's, playing guitars, singing atop a canal boat and generally having a really good time in the sun!

We later found out that this was the Floating Market and among all the fun there are little stalls on the barges selling hats, jewellery and my favourite the book barge - amazing! We immediately grabbed a drink from the Palm Tree pub, found a spot on the grass and kicked back and enjoyed the music and people watching!

The Floating Market can be found on the stretch of canal between Mile End Road and Roman Road and will be there until 16th August so make the most of it while you can - we have been down twice this week already!!

Plotting our Olympic drinking spots for the next 16 days! Everyone everywhere is pulling out all the stops to make the London Olympics one to remember! I am seriously impressed with all the options and quirky ideas...from free outdoor screenings in Hyde Park with live music courtesy of BT London Live, to BBQ's, live screenings and partying on Kensington Roof Gardens!

My top two favourites that I have come across and can hopefully battle my way into are...

On a Budget...TBC Basecamp - my trusty Lenard Street favourite, The Book Club, have taken over the disused Car Park opposite the bar and transformed it into an Olympic Playground! It simply sounds amazing and I CANNOT wait to go...Big screens to watch the games, a Street Kitchen, Olympic themed cocktails including 'End it like Beckham', pints of Pimm's and Mojito, a paddling pool (!!), ping pong, live graffiti art, table football AND basketball, oh and to top it all off they have even bagged an ice-cream van!

All this ridiculous fun commences tonight until 12th August and believe it or not entry is absolutely FREE!!!

Blow the Budget ...The Fringe,  Swan Wharf - this pop-up private members club has been designed specifically for the Olympics and is something you definitely don't want to miss out on! Housed in an impressive converted warehouse The Fringe consists of a Members Courtyard and a Members Club on the first floor with The Penthouse and Private Suites available for private hire! You have to part with a pretty hefty £200 to get in but this buys your membership from 9am - 2am the following morning and includes all food and drink. There are two bars on each floor, a huge riverside courtyard, street food from the likes of Borough Market and Brick Lane and huge screens showing all the live action from the Olympics all to a soundtrack of live DJs to make sure you party like never before!

Just call Jean Da Silva on +44 (0) 203 355 8169 to arrange indivdual, group or corporate membership.

Praying that the birthday bunny will bring me lots of lovely presents for my Birthday next week, (spoilt Baby Mouse or what?!) and scouring the internet to write my long Birthday list! Yes I still write one, but long gone are the days of Baby Born Zapf Dolls (remember the doll that ate actual food)...

Spoilt Mouse demands aside, all my searching and list-making has unearthed some fab jewellery from Topshop - a few pieces from their Premium Range which I haven't looked at before. Top of my list are the following, hint hint...plus they won't break the bank like those Charlotte Os - BONUS...
