Jimmy Choo Cruise Preview : Cocktails & Shoes...

A few weeks ago I was mindlessly scrolling through the many emails stacked up in my inbox when I came to one with a subject that never fails to send me a little bit gaga - 'Jimmy Choo invites you to...' I greedily clicked on the email to read what delight Jimmy was in fact inviting me to be a part of ... a sneak preview of the brand's 2014 Cruise Collection set to launch in November. I'm there!

So last Wednesday, 5.30pm struck and I was out of work in Bolt like fashion! The event was held within the Jimmy Choo HQ offices in SW1 and I can confirm the space is as you would imagine ... elegant, expensive looking with glossy catwalk floors unlikely to see a Converse trainer grace them in their lifetime! The press preview was an all dayer so media and bloggers were invited to drop in throughout the day at their leisure. According to Jimmy Choo's Creative Director, Sandra Choi the 2014 Cruise Collection boasts a mix of mouth watering styles, good enough to drink right up! Sandra stepped into the role of a mixologist and created a cocktail menu for the range blending the thrill of the social season into designs that go from glamorous champagne soirees to poolside margarita lounging. A collection inspired by fabulous cocktails and champers - it doesn't get much better!

The event had been set up within what could only be described as a blank canvas space - the layout was simple and minimalistic with a pop-up corner bar to cement the link between cocktails and shoes. The room boasted wrap around floor to ceiling glass windows framing a 'wow' cityscape view. Asides from that beautiful flower arrangements graced the space in additional to soft lighting equipment that had been set up and directed to cast spotlights on the shoe-clad displays. The glass windows had been dressed with ombre-esque rainbow film casting a dramatic glow both inwards and outwards - the effect was visually stunning paired with the minimalistic format of the showcase...

There were only a few media milling around by the time I made it along which suited me - nothing worse than having to outwardly show your bordering on deranged shoe obsession with the ever so cool and collected fash pack present to make judgement! I was spoilt with lace laden designs, pastel hues, colour-popping clutches, embellished loafers (for the men) and beaded beauties to name a few...

I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't stick around for a cocktail as I was flying solo and felt like I would look too much of a lush sipping cocktails alone! Instead I trotted off home and treated myself to a balcony Hendricks and tonic - booze lushlike behaviour is fine when no one can see...!
