Central & Co: Shopping, Brunch and Prosecco...

Another post on possibly my favourite subject ever... London eating! As soon as I wake up I think about food, dinner is the only thing that gets me through a work day (which is why I could never go on a full on diet...although Jess Ennis' stomach is inspiration enough!) and my weekend has a clear central theme - brunch, dinner and drunken snacks!

This weekend was no different, Fran (one of my uni besties) and I had scheduled in a gossipy brunch followed by a spot of shopping, so I was tasked with finding a venue close to Oxford Street with a yum brunch menu! I generally struggle with central as a location, I tend to find that restaurants are over-hyped and bars/clubs are often filled with 18 years olds and out-of-towners - the combination for me does not a good experience make! However...with my moaning curbed, off I searched and came across...Central & Co

Brilliant location on Great Marlborough Street, basically just opposite Liberty's and Carnaby Street. You'd think even a idiot could find this, I did however get lost and ended up half way down Regent's Street...(I need to get an Iphone with the walking directions I think)!! The venue itself is small and I can imagine gets very busy and buzzy in the evening, however for brunch we walked straight in and got the table of our choice! Upstairs is the Brasserie and Bar and downstairs is '&CO',  an intimate and cosy spirits bar.

The decor is chic and tasteful with a strong art deco feel - marble, brass and vintage lights everywhere. With the seating spilling out onto the street, Central & Co is a prime post for people watching and a summer time Prosecco spot (they pride themselves on tapas and London's most diverse range of sparkling wines!).

The staff were friendly and very attentive, maybe due to the lack of clientele at lunchtime, however we were both impressed and couldn't fault them on anything. We were obviously picking from the brunch menu, however I took a sneaky peak at the dinner menu and it looked impressive...from potted shrimp and smoked ham hock salad, to grilled lobster and flat iron steak with a blue cheese hollandaise! YUMMY!

I regretfully tore myself away from the lunch and dinner menu and set my sights back on brunch...I opted for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon - sounds standard I know but they were divine...creamy, buttery without being too rich with thick slices of amazing smoked salmon...I was definitely a happy camper! However I did feel a slight edge of envy when Fran's Buttermilk pancakes with creme fraiche and berry compote rocked up...

We washed all this down with coffees and cloudy apple juice - I LOVED the beautiful glasses the coffee and juice were served in, another sweet touch following the vintage theme.

The bill totalled up to £12 each...bargain especially for such a central location! A perfect little gem to be in the know about for brunch, lunch, mid shopping pit-stops and after work processco and tapas or even a full on meal!

Refuelled and ready to shop...I managed to resist the cute, delectable cake table...(don't ask me how?!), and hopped, skipped and jumped off to Zara and Topshop!
