Crown Jewels: I Know The Queen

Do you know the Queen?

Presumably you know she's celebrating 60 years as British Monarch this year?  I'm guessing you know she likes corgis, gin (particularly Dubonnet) and horses?  But did you know that she currently has three corgis, Monty, Willow and Holly?  And did you know that her wedding cake was made by McVitie (we like to think it was made entirely of Jaffa Cakes...)?  We're guessing you don't know the Queen as well as you thought you did after all...

We bet there's something else Queen related you don't know too... less to do with corgis or Jaffa Cakes, more to do with jewels - our latest jewel obsession in fact: I Know The Queen.

The luxury jewellery brand takes inspiration from family heirlooms, vintage trinkets and royal baubles, mixes these in with contemporary designs and a neon colour palette resulting in gorgeously unusual pieces that you'll be handing down to the next generation of fashionistas.  From headpieces to necklaces, bracelets to earrings, we're seriously coveting every single piece (we're particularly obsessed with the necklaces...).  So forget the bunting, let's not concern ourselves further with Fearne Cotton and Paloma Faith's discussion about Jubilee themed sick bags, why don't we all go shopping for our very own set of crown jewels...

We're all drunk on Jubilee Juice...Hic!

It's hump Wednesday which means only two more early work wake-ups until we hit the all time Jubilee high! With a four-day weekend fast approaching (sorry non-UK blog buds, don't mean to brag...), could we be anymore excited??? Well yes... the highstreet, web and magazines are full to the brim with ways to make this weekend extra special and one to remember! See our fav Jubilee finds below...

With Britons set to spend (according to the Daily Mail online) a whopping £823 million celebrating the Jubilee this weekend, what better way of getting involved in the action than with a bottle of champers! Moet & Chandon has launched an exclusive Diamond Jubilee Cuvee in honour of Her Maj! The champagne has a Royal history don't you know - Moet & Chandon has held the Royal Warrant since Queen Victoria recognised the quality of the champagne back in 1893. With that in mind it would be plain rude not to indulge over the celebratory weekend - come on, get sloshed with the Bad Mice, you know you want to! Available from various stores including Waitrose, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.

The British sandwich chain, Pret a Manger has come over all Jubilee dizzy! Not only have they launched three British classics in honour of the Queen; coronation chicken sandwich; Pret bakewell tart; ceylon blend of tea BUT they are also offering customers the chance to eat for free this week! Today I popped into the Queensway store on my lunch break and the cashier produced 3 giant playing cards from underneath the counter. He asked me to pick one of the cards and show him. He then muddled the cards up and challenged me to try and pick the same card for my chance to walk away with my cheapest Pret item free of charge. What a spiffing idea, as the queen would say! Get yourself down there pronto and try your luck!

British Fever...

Well with the Jubilee celebrations just around the corner (22 days and counting until a 4-day weekend - hooray) we are all getting very patriotic and I love it! My first feeling of excitement was last weekend when mini mouse and I walked down Oxford Street to see it lined with union jacks...

BUT it has to be said the winner happened this week and involved the daddy of Princes. If you missed this you missed out but not for much longer! So Prince Charles was apparently passing through the BBC Scotland studio and as you do thought he's try his hand at a spot of weather forecasting - amazing! The best thing i've seen in a long time...

Short and sweet today - a bite size post just enough for a hungover Sunday fix!
