O Christmas Tree!

So the blog has been pretty much wall to wall Christmas ever since December rolled around and so today we thought we'd bring you…

…a little more Christmas!

Last Sunday quicker than you can say 'first of December' my super amazing advent calendar (thank you Middle and Mini!) was strung up and I was gleefully unpacking stocking number one…

...which was stuffed with four beautiful star-topped gold rings!

Next task for the day was to bag myself a tree so I zipped up to Prince Edward and hit the flower market which was jam packed with pine trees, wreaths and Poinsettia. After a little wander to check out what was on offer I settled on a tree packed shop and got down to the serious business of finding the one…

It didn't take long, within seconds, he caught my eye, I grabbed him, bundled him into the back of a van and whizzed him straight back to his new home. A little bit of fairy light festooning later and he was glittering proudly in the middle of my living room.

He wasn't the only festive touch in the flat though, hanging on the front door was a berry studded wreath

and over on the side was a twinkly little star.

But I couldn't leave my beautiful tree's branches bare so I got straight onto Pinterest to get some Chrimble-spiration. A few days and a bit of DIY-supply shopping later and I was ready to get crafty… First up, some fruity decorations…

These couldn't be simpler and have the added bonus of making your house smell festively scrumptious while they bake away! Take a bag of oranges, slice into rounds roughly a centimetre wide and pop them straight onto your oven shelf to bake at 135 degrees for an hour. Once the hour's up, flip your slices, turn the temperature down to 100 degrees and bake for another two hours or until the slices have dried out completely and aren't sticky to the touch.

Once your orange slices have cooled, take a needle and some gold thread, stitch through the flesh at the top of each slice, tie on a cinnamon stick and a little gingham bow, knot the thread, and there you have it - a kick of zesty festivity ready to be hung on your tree!

Next I grabbed my rolling pin, mixed up a batch of salt dough and whipped up a flurry of snowflakes. After a couple of hours in the oven, my snow storm was ready to be painted white, sprinkled with glitter and strung up on the tree.

By now my tree was looking pretty drop dead gorgeous even if I do say so myself.

But there was still something missing…

As everyone knows, your tree's never fully dressed without a topper. As I already had my star twinkling away on the side, I decided what my tree needed was an angelic touch so I whipped up this little lady, she's called Gabrielle…

The perfect finishing touch. And the perfect inspiration for Saturday night's Christmas party outfit!

Only sixteen more sleeps until the big day, hope you've sent your Christmas letters off to the big man up in the North Pole and that you're making sure you're being particularly nice. No one wants to wake up on Christmas morning to find a stocking filled with coal...

This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

So it is safe to say The Mice are officially feeling festive! Christmas jumpers have been purchased, our present list is slowly being ticked off and our diaries are now full of Christmassy engagements! It's definitely the season to be taking as much vitamin C and echinacea as humanly possible to ensure we dodge a Christmas cold and can keep up with all the excitement and socialising!

When we haven't been writing thousands of Christmas to do lists, this week the Mice have mostly been...

Desperately searching for a spot of R&R after a seriously non-stop Parisian adventure! 48 hours were spent eating delicious dinners, sipping far too many cocktails, exploring the cobbled streets of Le Marais and inhaling copious amounts of macaroons and pastries! Across the two days we only spent 8 of those hours asleep and managed to clock up 24,000 steps on the beautiful streets of Paris...I'm sure that counteracts all of those extra calories!!

Posts of where we went and what we got up to will be winging their way over shortly, however for now I'll leave you with a mini scrapbook picture reel of what the Mice did...

Sprucing up London Towers to heighten the festive feeling! As I've mentioned our diaries are now bursting at the seams with far too many drinks and dinners, so we're pretty much left with just Mondays to get anything done that doesn't involve drinking too many gin & tonics and eating mince pies! This week Middle Mouse and I used our Monday evening off to have our first official Christmas night and put up our tree!

After a long day at work we bounded home, ripped open our advent window and jumped straight into our Christmas PJ's...if you're going to do a job, you may as well do it properly!!!

First things first...it's essential to have a Christmas film on in the background, but it's so hard to pick...

We eventually opted for good old Love Actually for some feel good viewing!

Film sorted, next up - nibbles to fuel all that tree decorating...we thought smoked salmon, cream cheese and biscuits would be just the thing! We even ate them from our Christmas plate!

Tree up, lights secured, cream roses hung, there was one last job for me to do...

Drum roll please....ta dahhhh....

Just as we stood back to admire our handiwork the oven pinged and a hearty winter's dinner of beef bourguignon (courtesy of M&S we're not miracle workers!) and a big glass of red, was ready to be devoured!!!

We spent the rest of the evening cosy little mice, curled up in front of our tree watching Christmas films...bliss!!

Only 19 more sleeeeeeps!!!

On that note, stay cosy this weekend and of course get Christmassy! I think it's only right to sign off with one final Christmas message after our bumper Christmas week!!!!
