Magnificent Mallorca : Portals Hills Boutique

As I sit here pondering how to start this blog post, I can't help but think was it really only a few weeks ago that Mini Mouse and I returned from our lusher than lush trip to Mallorca?! Sadly it seems like a lifetime ago and I'm itching to go back pronto! If you follow us on Instagram You no doubt saw our smoasts whilst we were there … #sorrynotsorry … we did lots of cocktail drinking, plenty of lazing in the sun, a whole heap of sleeping and generally spent the rest of the day laughing til our faces hurt. Holiday essentials right?!

We escaped for four blissful days and nights, splitting our time between two locations and hotels. Mini Mouse will be sharing snaps and 3BM diary extracts from our first hotel, Son Julia but today I'm going to tell you all about the fabulous Miami-inspired luxury
Portals Hills Boutique Hotel.

A South Beach vision, perched high up in the hills overlooking the Mediterranean and Bay of Palma - this is modern design at its very best. Huge expanses of glass provide endless views of blue skies and twinkling turquoise seas, back inside you're dazzled by white (in a good way) with pared-back luxury everywhere you look - minimal fuss, maximum impact. Believe us when we say this hotel is a little speck of heaven bobbing in the Mediterranean.

We walked in and immediately felt calm and carefree vibes wash over us. It was love at first sight…

We were greeted very swiftly by the hotel Sales & Marketing Manager, Kristina Albrecht. She had very kindly offered to take us on a grand tour of the space before we settled by the pool for the day.

We were whisked away and wowed beyond belief when we were shown one of the 29 suites that made up the space. Designed by internationally-acclaimed interior god, Luc van Acker, no expense has been spared. Each suite boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, gold flashes of brilliance everywhere you look and stunning photography adorning the walls.

Our favourite feature however has to be the suite's balcony which, if you peer over the edge, gives you the perfect view of the hotel's crack security team… a bunch of sparkling gold crocs strategically placed on the roof looking up to the blue skies. So fun and playful - yet another example of utter design brilliance everywhere you look…

We were then given a sneak peak at one of the two exclusive Fendi-furnished penthouses. Complete with it's own kitchen and VIP lift that takes you to a HUGE private roof terrace! Pretty spectacular!

With our bedroom tour now complete, we wandered through the hotel taking in all of the gorgeous details, textures, art work and quirks...

Next up a pool dip was in order coupled with a glass of something icy cold and bubbly!

We took our positions up by the hotel's stunning La Cabana infinity pool, surrounded by palm trees and the best fringed parasols around...

After a morning of sun, a smidgen of reading and a whole lot of snoozing, we decided it was time to refresh and refuel. We selected a sun-soaked table by the pool and ordered up a couple of light, fresh, lip-smackingly good salads. Mini opted for a Niçoise with grilled red tuna topped with mustard & tarragon dressing and I went for a simple tomato salad with burratina, avocado, strawberries, basil and hazelnuts. Seriously good sal sals and exactly the kind of food we were both craving in a hot climate...

Suitably full and tipping over into tipsy, we skipped back to our loungers and took up position again - it's a hard life huh?! Whilst staying at a hotel or visiting a beach club, I love nothing more than being brought surprise sporadic poolside treats. I'm happy to report Portals Hills is firmly with me on that one! In the morning we were treated to a fresh juice, post-lunch a scoop of sorbet and late afternoon a platter of fruit to get stuck into....

I can't believe I haven't mentioned the attentive staff up until now. They seriously could not have looked after us any better. Their poolside manner was impeccable ... when you needed them they were there like a flash but the rest of the time they crept around like quiet mice maintaining the peaceful vibes of the hotel.

Parting sentiment from me to you - Portals Hills Boutique is a dream ... my favourite day spent in Mallorca by far. If you haven't travelled to this little Balearic gem before, I urge you to for this little beauty alone. Just heavenly in every way!
