This Week The Mice Have Mostly Been...

Hey Cool Cats, we have news...

Whoop!

But before you slink off for a cocktail-fuelled weekend of fun, we thought we'd give you the low down on all the mousey happenings in the seven days just gone by. This week, the Mice have mostly been...

Celebrating the fact that Scotland are staying by whipping up a batch of the Scot's finest (and whisper it - easiest) baked treat - shortbread. On the Referendum Eve, we dashed home, got busy in the kitchen and then snuggled on the sofa with a stack of shortbread and strawberries in front of Braveheart.

If you fancy channeling your inner Mary Berry and getting your bake on this weekend, here's our super simple shortbread recipe...

Scottish Shortbread
Makes a batch of ten

You'll need:
150g of flour (sifted)
100g of unsalted butter (room temperature)
50g of caster sugar

Grab a mixing bowl and cream the butter and sugar together with a wooden spoon. Gradually add the flour tablespoon by tablespoon until you have a smooth mixture. Knead your dough, squidge it into a ball and pop it in the fridge for ten minutes. Meanwhile get your oven nice and toasty (around 180C).

Once your dough's suitably chilled, roll it out to half a centimetre thick and cut it into whatever shapes your heart desires. Space your dough shapes out across a baking tray and whack them in the oven for 10-15 minutes until they're golden and crumbly. While your shortbread cools, scatter with a sprinkle of sugar.

Serve with a tumble of strawberries and a large glass of wine while considering that you're delighted that we're still united...

Fully intending to transform into a gypsy mermaid princess this Spring in the wake of Marchesa's tenth anniversary gorgeousness that floated down the catwalk to kick off London Fashion Week last Saturday. When the daffodils poke up their little yellow noses next April, we're planning to copy every last detail of the Marchesa girls' looks from the crowns of their boho-mussed tresses right down to to the very tips of their Louboutin-clad toes. We're aware that we may look a little OTT in Tesco and those fairytale skirts may well not be the most practical for hopping on and off the tube but we girls can dream. Here for your swooning pleasure are some of our fav pieces...

So, I think that's the cue for a little Friday poem...

Have a wonderful weekend!
