5 minutes with Cushnie et Ochs...

Let us introduce you to our very latest fashion crush, clothing label, Cushnie et Ochs. Since the brand's launch in 2009, it's become synonymous with femme fatale luxe and is stocked in all the most exclusive boutiques worldwide.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with the brand's talented designers, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, while on my recent work trip with HTC to New York. Pretty cool I know - Middle Mouse hanging out with the the fash pack elite! Anyway, let me start by giving you some background on the masterminds behind Cushnie et Ochs...

Carly Cushnie - Londoner
After gaining a BA in Fashion & Design from Parsons School of Design in both NYC and Paris, Carly went on to work as a design intern for both Donna KarenProenza Schouler and Oscar De La Renta

Michelle OchsNew Yorker
Fellow NY Parsons School of Design alumni, Michelle, worked as a design intern for Marc Jacobs, Isaac Mizrahi and Chado Ralph Rucci after graduating.

While at Parsons, both designers received top honours including the CFDA scholarship and the SAGA award and their senior collections were featured in a cover story for WWD. So far, so awesome.

Moving onto why we're head over heels for Cushnie et Ochs... Focusing on intricate draping and precise tailoring, each piece is perfectly designed to make the very most of our best features. The pair create form-fitting, architectural pieces which use clever cut-outs and sheer panels to heart-stoppingly deadly effect.

Carly and Michelle shared their Spring 2013 collection with us and to put it simply, we was blown away. Rail after beautiful rail of 'must-have-it-immediately' pieces in a mainly monochrome palette with splashes of purple and aqua. Their designs have such exquisite lines with a simplicity that gives them an uber expensive and luxurious appeal. A few of our favs below, surprise surprise all black, second-skin designs...

But don't just take our word for it, scores of celeb influencers are sitting up and taking notice of this cutting edge fashion label too with the likes of Olivia Wilde, Reese Witherspoon, Liya Kebede and Lauren Santo Domingo all rocking Cushnie et Ochs on a regular basis. And if that wasn't impressive enough, Michelle Obama is also a fan! She wore custom Spring 2012 at the Christmas in Washington event. Check out the C et O fashionstas below...

We caught up with the gorgeous pair to ask them a few questions exclusively for our amazing readers. We guarantee you'll love them even more after reading their answers to our questions...

If you were asked to sum up your latest Spring 2013 collection in a few words what would they be?

Sex on the beach!

Who/what inspires you and the brand?

The female body, strength and inner spirit inspires the collection. The brand is for women by women and we want to always express this female sensuality in our clothes. We often look to art and architecture to influence our sculptural shapes and lines.

Your latest collection is made up of a lot of black and white designs. What draws you to these colours?

We want our collection to live in a woman's wardrobe for a long time. Pieces she can always rely on that suit her well and although bold in design they live through the seasons. Designing a lot in black and white really adds to this as they are colours you never grow tired of.

Which celebrity in your eyes most epitomises what Cushnie et Ochs stands for? In other words who would be your dream celeb to dress?

We have dressed a lot of celebrities who look really great in our clothes from Emma Watson to Eva Longoria to Reese Witherspoon and First Lady, Michelle Obama. There are so many amazing women out there, it's so hard to pick just one.

What are your guilty pleasures?

Carly - Peanut butter
Michelle - Real Housewives of NJ

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Always ask.... the worst they can say is no. And the answer no can only make you more resourceful.

Love them yet??? We knew you would...!
